x64 Ultimate - Can't Return from Sleep mode

Hi I recently built my brother a desktop pc.

    Asrock 770 Extreame 3
    G.SKILL DDR3 1600 running at 1333 8.8.8.24
    EVGA 9800GTX+
    Antec 520W (80+)
I was having problems with it while gaming. It was laggy (even though it was singleplayer offline) I thought it was the graphic drivers, so I removed them and installed latest drivers. That didn't work.. so I took my other EVGA 9800GTX+ and tried that.. still lag. So I tested the RAM 4 passes all good. (memtest86+)

then I realized when it went to sleep and came back, it would just have a black screen with a blinking underscore in the top left corner of screen. It would stall there for like 30 mins.. so I rebooted..

Got to a screen that said delete restoration data or try the restoration.. just delete and continue normal boot..

This happens every single time I return from sleep mode.
I already disabled hibernation with the command prompt. powrprof.dll -h off. I believe it was that command..

    and still no good.
I'm pretty stumped.. and my brother is going to college so he won't be able to stick around after monday..

Any help is greatly appreciated. !
    Thanks.

Welcome to Seven Forums 757. This isn't an unusual problem. There are several methods that correct this that work for some, but not others. Often mentioned is to change the power plan.

Start> Type Power Options in serarch box, press enter. Choose a power plan, or create a custom plan.

Another fix has to do with BIOS settings having to do with Power. In my ASUS board the settings are Suspend mode set to Auto, and Repost Video on S3 Resume, which is set to No on my system.

Another method that works for some is using this tool:

    MCE Standby Tool

The Beta for Windows 7 can be found HERE

    Good luck. A Guy

Yeah I've noticed that it's a pretty common problem, but there are so many different "Species" I guess of the problem.

Also, when I restart from sleep mode I'm always having to dump the restoration data, I thought that would be different from the rest..

This BIOS is a clusterf* whoever created the categories was on crack... but I'll try searching through everything till I find something that makes sense..

    Thanks for your help

Well I changed some option in BIOS.. ring-in power on.. to enabled.. and ran MCE tool.. and changed the power state.. but I have the same problem.. it was able to fix something though.. it now awakes when I strike any key.. before it wouldn't.
