Windows 7: Do you compress your C drive?

well this is very strange. B4 compress the drive. It was around 34 GB used space.

After decompression it 41 GB So I deleted the older recovery points. But it's still not back to around 34 GB (around 38 GB right now).

Going to defrag the C drive and see.

I'm trying to cast my mind back all the years since I tried it, and I think I found the same result. The system may take care of some of that extra space in time as it compresses old files etc.

I think you'll find that the system will eventually give it back, but I can't guarantee that.

You should just leave it alone now.
Messing around with production systems is not advised.

Unless your upgrading a hardware on a production system. You meant computers that are already built for you right?

No I'm talking about messing with settings on the OS, like compressing the system drive. Stuff like that.

We get semi-regular cases here where C drive compression makes Win7 unbootable.

The only way to fix it is to browse into the C drive through the Load Drivers utility on Repair CD to rightclick C>Properties>uncheck Compress Drive.

i didnt think anyone compressed their c drive since the 90's! back when a 350meg hd was a good size.
