    Minimum requirements

I have an old box currently running xp pro sp3. it's quite old and low on specs. the cpu is ok but it runs old sd-ram and i've maxed it out with 2 512mb sticks. HDD space is no problem. I want to run 7127 on it. realistically how well do people think it'll run. i'll turn off aero and any other unnecessary services. it needs to connect to the internet, run office 2007, msn messenger, rip/burn music, basic photo editing and not much more (definately no video editing but maybe be able to watch dvds).

i would like opinions please as i know that this meets the required minimal specs but i'm worried it perform "in the real world"

I installed Win7 Beta back in January on an Intel pent III 600mhz w 512mb ram . It works but real slow like a win98 on a 233mhz computer. I can access the internet & my other networked computers okay

if you say CPU is good, then it should be just fine :P

I've installed it on celeron 2.0ghz 512MB and it was usable :P... just not many apps at a time(2-3 apps at a time)... I could run firefox,photoshop,office07,VisualStudio,limewire,media player and stuff... :P also if you have extra 1-4gb USB drive plug it in and make readyboost use it that will surely give you a bit more performance

    good luck
