Oldest "Dinosaur" Running Win7

haha that spec is better than the desktop i'm running it on! - and i'm not even trying to do a dinosaur challenge haha
so is it impossible to install it under 512mb of ram? - as in it doesn't let you go through with the installation?

This looks promising.

Im planning on installing W7 on a Latitude X300 with a 1.4Ghz Pentium M and 1.5GB of RAM.

EDIT:
No luck. BSOD when I tried to install. It said the computer/bios wasnt fully ACPI compatible.
Im a really Thinkpad guy, but I got this Dell for free. Thats about what its worth anyway.

How well does Windows 7 work on computers with just 512 MB? Is the speed still ok or is it really slow?

Depends on how patient or unpatient you are! :D
But I've tried it on really lame computers @ the PC store, those around 150$, gotta tell you It's like XP, only a second slower, (maybe because the GPU was awful)...

hi !

W7 runs on a P2 with 266MHz CPU, 96MB RAM & 4Mb graphic card !

i have done 3 tests: 2 successful...
1. 128 MB RAM
2. 96 MB ram

take a look at the screenshots...:D

on my third test with 64 MB i got some errormessages about "insufficient memory", then it rebooted...

i also have a P1 with 166Mhz CPU & 1MB Graphic card, without the powersupply-unit, as i have used it for some test on another PC.

if i can find the Powersupply-unit, i´m going to test the P1 tomorrow...

Looks like Windows 7 needs at least 100-128 MB RAM to boot up and function.... I have tried and succeeded running 7 in Virtual box with 100 MB RAM. Any less than that will BSOD while booting...
