I got till March 2010 to see if it keeps running. :geek: Plus I only gave $ 9.99 for it at a Thrift Store. :o

Hi all
How about this mix of old and new.

Emulating an old IBM mainframe 3031 running MVS/370 complete with Operators console and a TSO ("Time Sharing Option") terminal - all running on a LAPTOP with windows 7 (x-64) and running faster than the "Old Iron" did back then. :D

Those days you could even get your data in via old fashioned "punched cards"

Actually it was a decent OS even way back in the mid to late 70's. Many of the designs of the OS are still incorporated today in modern OS developments.

Cheers
jimbo

I've had it running 7000 a while ago on a Dell Dimension 866L Pentium 3 with 512MB of old SD ram memory. The Intel 815i graphic chipset wasn't Aero compliant so everything was in low resolution which made it annoying to use. Wasn't worth spending $30-$50 for a card just to say I COULD run it on something so old. Worked fairly quickly though through the wireless Netgear WG111v3 USB adapter.

my girldfriend still runs a p4 1.6, 1gig sd pc-133 ram, usb 1.0, on-board graphics 64mb, 40gb hdd. It's an old Dell desktop that has no pci slots on the board so apart from upgrading the ram (which is now maxed out) that's as good as it's gonna get.

I loaded 7137 on it and all went well until i tried to install office 07 and things went belly up. I'm re-building another box for her and the kids and i'm gonna play around again with this old thing coz i reckon i can get it going. xp pro sp3 runs very well on it tho.

USB boot? May not be possible on old computers... ALTHOUGH MS says minimum RAM is 1 GB, 7 can actually BOOT up with only 100 MB RAM(RC stage and tested in Virtualbox!)... But the RAM is STILL low, but if you want to give it a spin, take out an IDE DVD reader/burner connect it up AND BOOM! 7! but the graphic card drivers may not be available which will cause annoying lags... :( BUT 4 testing y not. and make sure you have enough HD space... My old comp (Pentium 2) only has 5 GB HD... :D no 7 there... :( coz no space
