    TrustedInstaller problems

So I followed this tutorial and I completed every step and it all worked, just like the tutorial said. But when I tried to remove some files from my Windows folder, it still kept moaning about TrustedInstaller and not being Admin and all.
I am the Admin and there's only one user on this laptop, me. And still it won't work, it says now "You require permission from X-Laptop\X to make changes to this file " X is my name.

But I am X, why won't you let me do what I want?

    Thanks!

    Hello Satangel,

Well, that link is where the problem happened. You NEVER want to take ownership and permission of the entire System32 folder like that to not have issues like you are having now. You would only want to take ownership and permission of the specific files insde that folder that you wanted to delete or modify instead.

You might see if running a sfc /scannow command may help. If not then you can do a system restore using a restore point dated before you did this to undo and fix it. If still not, then a repair install will.

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

    Thanks for the quick reply.

I ran a sfc /scannow command and it came out positive like the tutorial said. Anything else I need to do now? And next time I'll just follow that first tutorial but only for 1 folder, like you said.

What files are you wanting to delete?

Did you take ownership, and "Allow" your user account "Full Control" of each one of them before trying to delete them?
