    Hello to everyone.

I have performance problem with windows 7.
After I log on into my user account (i don't have password), I must wait 5 minutes for perfomance. It's slow that everything I can open, so I can't feel the real speed of my pc after Welcome screen, after checking internet connection and avast free. Every startup file is disable (only avast free).
After 5 minutes, everything is fine. Works fast, opening fast..everything is fast than ever.

    My configuration:
    CPU: Core i5 750 @2.66
    MB: Asus P7H55
    RAM: 4GB DDR3 1333MHz
HDD: WD Caviar Green 1TB, SATA 3GB/s, 64MB Cache
    VGA: KFA2 GTS 250 1GB DDR3

    What is the problem??!!!

Test hardware: memtest86 CD for 5-6 passes or overnight, then HD maker's diag/repair CD full scan: Hard Drive Diagnostics Tools and Utilities

Check system file integrity: SFC -SCANNOW Command

Study carefully the Event Viewer>Admin view to google repeat errors using text and ID#. Ditto the Performance log on Advanced Tools page accessed by clicking WEI score link at Computer>properties. Look for cued issues on Tools page, then Generate A System Health Report.

Is this a factory install or did you install it? Was the HD wiped first of all code? When did problems start? Can you remember what you did just before probs started? If probs are recent see if you can System Restore to beforehand.

As a last resort before Clean Reinstall, try a Repair Install

If you have no password, you don't need to log in unless you have other possibly unnecessary accounts which can be deleted in User Accounts.

When I bought the computer, it was include Windows 7 Professional 32bit. Then because of 4GB RAM, I have installed Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit clean install.

I don't remember when this problem has started.

Here some results from the test. Today, I'll test the hdd and memory.

    1. System file integrity

    2. Performance Log

    3. System Health Report

    4. HDD Performance (READ)

I have looked the case, and the red led (HDD) was work a lot. Just after Security Center.

Im curious why do you need a Virtual Drive for Assasins Creed anyway?
It simply extra software/Drivers that you do not need.

AC2 does not require the disc to play.

As for the first one, i didn't think it did either .. but most of mine are STEAM so could be wrong.

It would be easier to just use the original disc wouldn't it?
Not only for the reasons of extra un-needed software but also wasting extra disc space for the game itself as well a copy of the Full disc.

Run the Latency Checker to see if a driver is responsible for lagging: DPC Latency Checker

nothing should be in the Red - if so follow the steps given on Download page to disable drivers one-by-one until you find the one responsible then replace it.

Any performance changes after repairing System Files?

You'll need to scroll much further down the Event Viewer>Admin View and Performance logs to find repeat errors to google to resolution.

I have given up on probs with 64 bit on some installs and gone back to 32 bit to great satisfaction.

    1. Ah ok.
    2. What are the advantages/disadvantages of keeping it Active (it's an external HDD)?
    3. Oh. Ok. Ha. Of course.
    4. Thanks for all your help! I finally found the rep button (I'm not viewing this website in the default theme, so the buttons and their placement are different) and have 'repped' you!

I haven't read anything, but why a 32-bit Windows and 4GB of ram? 32-bit versions only work with 3GB or LESS, so you are probably with 0,75GB or more usable RAM not recognized by the OS.

Your computer is capable of handling a 64-bit version, in fact, I'd recommend it.

OMG, I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS!!! ATI Catalyst was the problem!!! I uninstalled Catalyst, let Windows 7 handle the drivers related stuff, and now everything works like a charm!!! It took me TWO weeks to get a solution to this problem!
