Menu slide or fade in Windows 7. How to change?

    Hi,

can anyone tell me how to change the menu animation in Windows 7 from slide to fade?
I did not find anything about it so I would be grateful if anybody could help me.
    Thanks a lot.

Go to Control Panel - System - Performance Information and Tools - Adjust Visual Effects - and you should get to what you're after.

    Different instructions on W/7 Professional

Under Windows/7 Pro the "Performance Information and Tools" click is only available after you choose "View by:" and click "Small Icons".

If your CP View By: is set to the default of "Categories" you need to follow this:

Control Panel (home) -> System and Security -> System -> Advanced System settings
Which gives a "system Properties" window wth Tabs. Click "Advanced" Tab and under Performance (Visual effects, processor scheduling, memory usage and virtual memory.) click the "Settings" button.

There also you can turn the Fade/Slide on and of for 3 categories of effects. Experiment by clicking the Apply after each change. I didn't see how to change from Fade to Slide. Maybe it's the "Slide open combo boxes" setting.

I unchecked "Fade or slide menus into view" and unchecked "Fade out menu items after clicking." which made things snappier.
