    Hello,

Even if the Computer is ideal there will be lot of things that is running in background. So it would says it Normal just see how any processes are running. If you have a high CPU usage that would be a problem. Otherwise don't worry about it.

    Hope this helps,

I would recommend at least 2 GB on Win 7. I had a netbook with 1 and it was aweful, as it tends to use about that much with nothing running once its properly protected.

1GB of ram is not really enough for Windows 7. Can the netbook be upgraded with additional ram? Even 2GB would help.

    Yes, go with XP

1GB is too low for Windows 7, get 3GB for best performance.

I have 4gb of RAM and, upon boot, with nothing running, my memory usage is at 1.3 GB. I have very little loading at startup. Trust me, I've checked.

I attribute it to the Superfetch feature as I run many memory intensive applications on a regular basis, AutoCad Architecture 2011 being but one, CS5, for goofs (thanks, Arc for the sig :) ), being another as I am a nerd at heart and could afford it a few months back. I run the full Office 2010 suite as well with Outlook always running (my PST file is over 2 GB).

Whenever I start an app, the memory is redistributed instantly. I go by the "Hard Fault" count in Performance Monitor. Even with the apps I run, the Hard Faults never get to a level of concern.

Windows 7 is very adept at managing memory. I no longer pay attention to it.

Same here, 1.3GB ram usage, but there are many programs running in the background.

like, system files, os files, startup programs etc.
