"Operating system: Unknown" when trying startup repair

    "Operating system: Unknown" when trying startup repair


    Hi, turns out that when i get to this window:



    Instead of "Operating system: Windows 7" i get "Operating system: Unknown" and when I try to repair startup, it fails, what could be the problem?

    i read BSOd and it thinks my laptop is working and will download.
    might it help my laptop in i downloaded something onto this olde
    desktop to a 8gb USB drive ? thanks - jimhicks36

    Captian i saw repair pages days ago. now, only the 2 Windows Boot Manager pages open.

    is it possible to use a flash drive?


    is it possible to use a flash drive? I'm currently experiencing this problem, the other problem is I don't have a cd/dvd drive.. I wish someone reply to this message.

    Hello anger51, and welcome to Seven Forums.

    Yes. You could download a Windows 7 ISO file, and create a bootable Windows 7 installation USB with the ISO file. The tutorial below can help you with both.
    Afterwards, you could select to temporarily boot from the USB in your motherboards Boot Menu to the System Recovery Options to select to do a Startup Repair.
