30 degrees is coool for a laptop. But its crazy to have the fan turn on at that temp. Look around at the toshiba website or in the forums whether theres a fan control utility.

You can also try out speedfan, it may detect your fans and let you adjust speed and triggers manually.

I just bought a new toshiba pc i got it last thursday and when im just sitting at the desktop the fan just kicks into high gear constantly running and making noise and then after a few minutes it stops but it also starts back up making the same annoying noise minutes later is the fan suppose to be working so constantly? And the cpu temperature is constantly at 30 degrees or higher is that normal? even when i turn on the pc after its been off for a few hours its still in between the same temperature range that i mentioned earlier. also for example on this pc if i have firefox open and i have photoshop open or any other programs the screen brightness changes slightly dimmer when i switch from one program to another on its own. Im not sure should i take it back im thinking about doing that i cant take the annoying fan and the automatic switching of the screen brightness upon switching application windows is a little strange.
Bring it back and exchange for a new one while you can ..."another brand perhaps"
Since it's only few days old ..

Not likely that a new laptop would be dirty inside yet.....but it will and cleaning will become a semi regular maintenance. Are you using this on your lap?? Do you have a laptop cooler.....very good idea?? Were you gaming at that time ?? If you are using this on a desktop and with it's rear legs raised so air can get into and under the laptop then for sure you need to contact Toshiba and work with them to solve this issue.
im not useing it on my lap. I do have a laptop cooler a fan that i can place underneath it but i feel that a new pc should not require that since i just got it. when the fan starts to get noisy sometimes i can be playing a game and at other times i can just be in the desktop just sitting there

Toshiba is a good company and they will support the speedy repair or replacement of your unit. It shouldn't be doing this as you describe. Good luck and keep us advised ! Cheers

In addition to the above good advice - if you are getting a screen change when changing into and out of Photoshop this could be due to the settings in photoshop - As a high end image application photoshop has controls for colour matching built in - if the settings within PS do not match those of the default for windows you will see a diifference

Ah, I completely forgot about that. An easy thing to overlook when your computer doesn't do it (perceptively) lol.

Yeah, it definitely sounds like RMA material. Sorry that it happened to you, but Toshiba's support is good, if your store won't take it back.
