Boot time getting slow... hangs on hibernation and sleep mode

    I think I have the same problem. Pull the DVD drive out of the machine and watch it boot like a dream.

    Don't get your hopes up, thinking all you need is a new drive. I replaced my drive and as soon as I did, all my problems returned. I sure hope we don't need motherboards.

    Try another SATA port. Check your BIOS settings for the OD.

    On my laptop, there appears to be only one small area where an optical drive can fit. Forgive me, I don't know much about hardware.

    I suppose there's always the solution of using an external CD/DVD-ROM drive...
