Will 2GB Ram work
My laptop:
Toshiba Satellite, A45-S120,
2GB PC-2700 333Mhz DDR1 Ram
128MB Level 2 Cache 400Mhz FSB,
Should I install Windows 7, or would it run slow like XP on 256MB Ram?

It should be perfect there is always settings and performance options to help you get the best out of the best..
i ran my win7 ultimate x64 install on 2 gig of ram for quite a while before i moved up to 3 gig. As long as you realise that the OS will use around 850M-1.3G which leaves not very much for any apps you want to run!
Windows 7 should run smoothly on 2gb memory and 2gb of RAM should be enough if you're not really into super multitasking, hardcore gaming, hi-def video editing, etc.
well i can safly say someone on a earlier post i read is running win7 32 bit off 1 gig of ram ddr off of a p4 mainboard and the cpu the person was using was a 2.8ghz at that im sure you'll get it to run atleast half decent compared to systems with 3 or more gigs
Hi, welcome to the forums :)
There should be no real issue running Windows 7 on your machine. I've had Windows 7 Ultimate running fine on a machine with only 768MB or RAM and there were no issues.
As mentioned above, running high powered apps/games will cause performance issues but for the average user (no offense intended) then 2GB is more than enough.

You can download and run this software from Microsoft and check your system to be sure everything else is also goood to go with Windows 7.

It will run fine, I have win7 32bit running on a Dell Latitude C600 (p3 1ghz 1gb ram) and its useable.
I'm pretty picky/impatient and I am fine with my acer netbook that has 2 GB RAM running 64 bit 7.
