Win 7 vs. Vista Cinebench comparison

I just ran Cinebench R10 64 in both Vista SP2 and Windows 7 build 7127.

    Interesting results:

    Vista:
    1 CPU render - 3416
    4 CPU render - 12118
    OpenGL standard - 5123

    Win 7:
    1 CPU render - 3473
    4 CPU render - 12271
    OpenGL standard - 6366

The higher scores for the render are pretty much within the margin of error so Win7 may or may not render faster, but the OpenGL mark shows a better than 22% increase in performance.

    "Veddy interesting!"

yup thats because windows 7 uses whql 1.1 drivers, which use half the ram of vista 1.0 drivers.

WHQL 1.1 provides for more efficient memory allocation when running multiple windows. For the full details, check: Engineering Windows 7 : Engineering Windows 7 Graphics Performance
