Quick Launch menu slow to populate

Hope this is in the right section. My quick launch menu takes up to 2 minutes to populater (even when there is no other software running). Once it has populated, then it will work again instantly.
Any way to speed this up?

do you mean your quick-launch toolbar?

do any of the shortcuts link to external drives, network locations, web pages or similar?

do you use mse anti-virus? i've noticed that to be slow at loading icons at times.

I didn';t realise I'd made it - I though it was there - perhaps it was there with XP and I was disappointed it had gone - that rings a bell.

by default, you'll only get the standard windows 7 big icons on the left, and the notification icons and clock on the right.

to have anything else, you would have to have done something to get it.

i'm wondering exactly what it is you have before being able to suggest a fix for it.

It sounds as though I've reinstated the quicklaunch toolbar as per you tutorial - this is what it looks like:

ok you've got a few shortcuts in there, but that shouldn't be a problem.

i don't know what your problem is i'm afraid.

type or paste %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch into the search-box on your start-menu, and see if there's anything else in there apart from good old shortcuts.

if you wait, more help should be on the way from others. :)

(by the way - it's probably better to learn to use the snipping tool and the forum attachments button for posting screenshots )
