Always confirm with the manufacturer with your exact model for the spec's ! Download the owners manual and other helpful info from their site and save in a file to read later.

For hard drive caddy:

New Acer Aspire 7552G Hard Drive Caddy Tray 42.PZS01.005

The 7552G has two versions, the one I have is the 7552G-6061. This version has three RAM slots, each can hold up to 4gb DDR3 Ram for a maximum total of 12GB. If you take the four screws off the back for the hard drive cover you'll find the empty bay and the three RAM slots, two of which are filled. There is another 7552G version (don't remember the last 4 on the model number) that comes with the AMD Phenom II X4 N920 CPU, and that one has only two Ram slots, so I've read.
Don't worry, you won't void the warranty by removing the cover. Now I have read in forums of people that have bought this laptop, that they have successfully ran DDR3 1333 ram in this, which seems believable since this laptop has the AMD 880G chipset in it, however to cut cost, Acer uses the DDR3 1066 RAM. I cannot verify if the 1333 ram works since I don't have any yet to try it, but I will later and post if you want. I have verified the three RAM slots and empty hard drive bay however. Hope this helps.

I found where I read up on the memory. If you go to crucial's website and do there memory calculator to see what type of RAM your system uses you get two choices, see link:

The Acer aspire model 7552G-6061 will hold three 4gb ddr3 ram up to 1333mhz. If you look at the specs it'll tell you it can hold 12gb total. At crucial.com if you use their memory calculator for compatible memory it'll show you can run 1066mhz ddr3 or 1333mhz.
I did get the hard drive caddy I listed earlier in this forum and it fits fine and added an old laptop hd for extra storage. The caddy doesn't come with screws though, was hard to find those. Can't wait to get an SSD later!

I highly doubt that you would notice much performance at all from going from 4GB to 8GB of RAM. Unless you are running very RAM hungry applications, you probably won't see a lick of change. Games don't require that much RAM.

No but the Cisco emulation software I plan to use is a memory HOG. This is the main reason I plan to go to 12GB, other wise 8GB would be plenty

HDD Caddy

I just purchased the 7552G-5430. Unfortunately I can not find the caddy for a second hdd. ACER doesn't sell it and their suppliers don't have it. Can anyone help me find one before I send it back?

Few questions regarding RAM
I have 2GB DDR3 RAM on my laptop at the moment, I was thinking about getting 1 or 2 GB RAM added to my laptop. I'm planning to add more, as CPU is constantly hitting nearly 1.5gb ram with very few applications opened. I have some basic questions, (they may be silly in nature too), I would...

Some fan questions
Ok, so my AMD Phenom II X2 idles around 40 - 45 C, which I don't like. I'm currently using a heatsink from a 2003, Socket 768 era computer. The heatsink actually fits my AM3 socket. The fan I'm using is from another heatsink which shipped with my CPU, it was a generic made-in-china heatsink and...
