Aero problem - Aero dissapears from personalize

After killing the process of Aero (wich had a memory leak, it was reaching 1 GB by itself and using all of one core).
I restarted the Aero process only to be greeted with something like "your performance analisis was reset" (all my windows7 performance scores were reset)
also , aero glass dissapeared from the Personalize.
I tried the technique of turning off the aero service (desktop window manager session manager ) and turned it on again, and then re-ran the performance (getting a 5.4 due of lousy old hdd, the rest are between 6.5 and 7.5 ).
but after a few restarts, the AERO glass option is still missing, how do I recover it?

    my specs:

    Windows 7 Ultimate
    Intel Kentsfield @ 3 Ghz ( Q6600 )
    GA-X48-DS4 ( Gigabyte )
    4 x 2 GB ram DDR 800 ( 8gb in 4 modules )
    2x Western Digital ( 160 + 500Gb )
    1x Seagate ( 250Gb )
    Sound Blaster Audgigy 2 zs
    Sapphire HD 3870 512Mb
    Viewsonic G90F + AcerAL2216W

Hi, Did you install Asus Gamer by any chance? or any other program around the same time as your problem started.

hu, I dont have anything related to ASUS so no, I didnt installed it.

anyway it seems to be fixed now
interestingly, the "aero" was desactivated for the current theme, I had to re-make my current one, and it finally let me use aero with transparency.
what a weird bug id say.
