AV/Malware services Vs. Basic Windows 7 64bit Maintenance Tasks ?

When performing normal Windows maintenance/security tasks...ie...backup - defraging - system image backup...etc...do you recommend stopping anything running for AV/Firewall/Maintance...etc during these type of operations ?

Any issues know for maintenance/security tasks in Win 7 and any Internet Security packages running at same time ?

    Thanks....Tim

I don't know about doing backups, but i defrag and all the other maintenance tasks without disabling AV/Firewall, and we're talking about 3rd party software, so i don't think it's going to give you a single problem...

    Could you elaborate more?

What AV/Firewall are you using? (this is just plain curiosity)

Thanks Punkster...it doesn't seem to matter here either but I thought I'd check in case sometime I need a restore or backup restored and I get error messages.

Asked the same question at same time on Bitdefender Forum but still don't have any replies from there.

Running Bitdefender Internet Security 2011. Had BDIS 2010 and because of all the issues Bitdefender offered 2011 as a "free" upgrade. Struggled for weeks with little help from their tech types...but have managed to get the current setup running smoothly without any conflics...errors...etc. Don't know how I managed...but don't have the multiple issues so many users are having on their forums.

The software is very good it appears once it's conflict free...but they seem to have beaucoup issues with conflicts on various systems...especially Win 7 64bit ? Ofcourse...it's always the users fault ?!

    Thanks again....Tim

Ive never needed to disable to the AV for making Backups/System images.

I use acronis for that though and Norton as Security. But whatever your prefered applications, it still shouldn't matter.
Disabling the AV should never be needed.
