    Missing start menu items

Something has caused some items in my startmenu to get deleted. In particular Media Center and some in the Admin Tools folder.

I have put some back manually by creating my own shortcuts to the executable files but is there a way to do a repair with the Windows disk that will just look for missing start menu items and put them back without risking it changing program files or other settings that I have made?

You can do a System Restore to a point before the problem appeared.
    System Restore

If it started say yesterday. Pick a restore point 2-3 days ago.
    This usually works.
Give it a try and let us know.

Also be sure to check mark "Show other restore points" when this window appears this will give you a bigger list to choose from.

Thanks but that is not an option. It happened the day I got the computer whilst I was installing all my software and setting it up (which took 3 days as I have a lot of software with special setups). I did not notice what had happened until the end and restoring to the start point would require several days work to reinstall complex stuff (it would be easier to reinstall Windows) so I am only going to do it if there is a simple solution that will not disrupt the current software settings.

    Hello Lorne,

This can help you restore missing default shortcuts in Administrative Tools.

    Administrative Tools - Restore Shortcuts

I'm currently working on a new tutorial to restore missing default shortcuts in the Start Menu, and should have it ready sometime later today or tonight. I'll post back a link to it when it's finshed. :)

    Hope this helps for now,
    Shawn
