Free space in Windows partition

    Free space in Windows partition


    Hi everyone,


    First of all excuse my future mistakes and if I posted in wrong forum section. Secondly, I currently have 836 MB free in Windows particion, C:, which overall has 24.4 GB. The problem is that when i select all folders and files from C: and i check properties to view size of them, all together have 13.4 GB. So I am missing 8GB from partition.
    Other strange thing is that, for example,when i woke up i had 1.06GB free in C:, and now (after ~30 mins) I refreshed to check free space again, and I have only 836 MB. So what happened? How is possible that?

    I have to mention that backup files are stored in E:. I have no ideea what is happening here. Where are my 8GB and most important how is possible to have different amount of size in same particion without installing/uninstalling any program.

    It could be:
    A restore point or backup
    Index
    Page file or hibernate file (which grow in size)
    Or hidden files and folders.

    25 gigs is a very small partition for win 7 especially if you have media or are 64bits

    Me current win 7 Partition is 40 gigs and I have no media on that partitions, and am 32 bits.

    In addition, The part in red could be due to high amount of write activities by the running programs.
    Use Piriform - Download CCleaner, Defraggler, Recuva, Speccy - Millions of users worldwide!ccleaner/download to delete unnecessary/junk files.

    Problem solved. Seems i had over 11 GB of junk files (omg). Thank you both.

System Partition with 5GB free space

I partitioned my hard drive into a C drive with 60GB and a U ( for Userdata ) with 140GB of space thinking 60GB was more than enough for Windows 7 and any ancillary requirements ( email, user settings, etal. ). The U drive contains my pictures, music and so on. I now have only 5GB of storage...
Can't delete free space partition

As said in the title, I can not delete the free space partition on my external hard drive after deleting the partition. Currently, I'm using Disk Management and I haven't tried other programs. Any ideas? Would a different program do the job? And to be specific, when I right-click on the free...
