    HELP re windows updates-2nd post

Okay. So perhaps Windows rc 64 bit simply never requires any important updates other than for Defender but I was just listening to Windows weekly and security now . Both casts are talking about this "mamoth update " from the second Tuesday of June. I posted this same question then but no one responded. I recieved 1 as usual for Defender.
Since then I have not recieved anyupdates except just before posting I checked and there was 1 important update...again for Defender. I have my update set for auto notify and install.
So is this correct? Should I only have recieved 2 important updates this month and only for Defender? It is out of character to say the least and I would love to know what's going on. Plus I am not being notified.
    TIA
    J
BTW-Can anyone tell me how to get rid of the language updates other than turning of non important updates all together?

On RC 7100 32 bit. Stay calm there J23. Worry about things you have got, not things you haven't got!
All is well, the last Windows update I received was a test update KB970424 on 28 May, I've had definition updates since for defender (last on 16/06/09) and a number of Office updates. I also got an update for my ethernet driver.
    Good isn't it.
All quiet on the Windows front.

(and no I don't know what to do with those pesky languages either, but then since one hardly ever need to look, haven't lost sleep over it either.)

(and you are not being notified because there is nothing to notify you of - update works just fine, rest easy)

J23 - U probably have it too - I just got a Windows Defender update and those Language updates were no longer there in that huge list.

This is typical of the small things Win7 does well - like reading our minds!

My experience has been that Defender apears to be the only updates that MS is realing doing. There have been test updates, and language packs, along with a few hardware ones. I've been conerned also, since their have been some inportant security updates for IE8 that should have been made available to win 7 users also, since these apear to new holes. As an Ubuntu user,I'm use to seeing almost daily updates addressing security and improvements to the OS. Granted MS tends to be a bit slow, but for me, and half of my laptops, I cannot use Win 7 OS as an everyday OS because it is sooo buggy, and the lack of improvements to the RC makes it a really bad experience, and a repeat of how bad Vista was for me. I ran it for a whole day on my back up laptop, andit appears rock solid. (3 yr old Acer) But on this 1 month old HP, it is crap.
