    How to optimize for netbook?

I have W7 x86 build 7137 installed on my netbook.

    Samsung NC10 (Atom 1.6Ghz / 2GB memory)

Can anyone suggest tweaks to optimize performance on the netbook? Its pretty slow, especially Firefox.

You could run disk clean up, then open Command Prompt with admin privaledges and type: defrag c: -w

? Ok, thanks but I'm not new to computers

I'm aware of defragging and disk cleaning (I use CCleaner and Smart Defrag).

I'm talking more optimizations like unneeded services, etc.

hi and welcome. win 7 can run on very few resources. In order for us to help you we need more information about it. Could you take a snip of the task manager in the processes tab. It woud help to know what FF is using how much ram is avvail, how big the page file is, etc

Waiting fo info hope this has helped a bit

I set the page file to custom 4GB.

Firefox is firefox, it will use whatever it uses on any other computer with the same config/extensions. On average, I'd say about 150MB.

W7 itself isn't slow, its the crappy Atom cpu that's slow.

I have the Asus Eee PC 900 running only 900 Mhz 1GB RAM 4GB+16GB SSD
I installed 7229 and very happy with the performance...have to shrink the 7229 and install on the 16GB SSD and cloned on the 4 GB SSD cos the 4GB SSD is the faster drive.

I guess it's all depend on your HD
