    Bootup using a repair disk

I have a Parkard Bell Acer Aspire 5742 laptop.
If I want to boot from a repair disk I have to go into the boot menu to change the drive.
Then when I reboot to go to Windows its back into the boot menu to change the drive.
Is there anything I can do so that this is done automatically?
My desktop recognises if there is a disk in at startup.

    Thanks

Do you mean you are tapping F12 at boot to invoke the boot menu, then selecting the boot device? You need to set the boot device priority in the bios Boot tab, then save changes (Press F10) and exit. To get into the bios tap F2 or Del or Ctrl+Alt+Esc at boot, the key varies by the computer make.

If you set CD to first boot and hardrive as second boot device you don't have to change it.

I leave mine like this all the time.
If CD is in the drawer it boots the disk if bootable. Music CD/ movie DVD won't boot.
If no bootable CD is in the drawer it goes to the second device the hard drive.

Set it once 1-CD, 2- hard drive and your done unless you need to add flash drive later for some reason.
