Start Menu search only shows items when entire words are typed

Hello everyone, first post ever :)
I've got a strange problem, I tried to search a lot for information but nothing came up.
When I use the start menu search for launching application my links only shows when I type an entire word into the search menu.
EG: if I want to run Internet explorer I have to type the whole "internet" word before internet explorer link appear in the list. On the other and on another installation it pops up even typing "int". This is a bit of a problem because I often don't remember the whole name of the progam or I'm simply bored to write the whole name.. any ideas?
I'm not sure it's "indexing related", on the other installation I've got indexing disabled and I have no problems at all
    thanks in advance

I think this is an "auto-complete" problem. Try this:

Open Windows Explorer + go to Tools, Folder Options, View
In the Advanced settings drop-down menu, go to: When typing into list view, and select: "Automatically type into the Search Box"

well, it did help in some way, now the results pop up while I'm writing, but only the ones coming from "control panel", not from the start menu. If I type "int" I only get "internet options" (and a lot of other stuff) but I have to type "internet" to see Internet Explorer appear.. any ideas?
