Mickey,
Yes, it seems that with adequately fast enough SSD's, MS disables superfetch automatically. I guess I wasn't aware of that, I knew about defrag and stuff...but didn't realize myself that it extended to SSD drives.

Prefetch is pre-Superfetch, it is what was in Windows XP. Prefetch is basically an index. It analyses what DLLs or other files an application loads up, the next time the application loads it can more optimally load all the required DLLs and other supporting files without waiting for them to be called.

Prefetch still exists in Windows Vista/7, Superfetch extends the capabilities of Prefetch.

Here is what Chrome's Prefetch looks like:

Automatic disabling of Prefetch does extend to most SSD Drives, unless they are lacking in the random read dept.
Most modern SSDs do not have that issue however.

Still, I too would agree that turning Pre-Fetch back ON, even on a SSD is worth the effort.
It still helps because, as already mentioned, reading from RAM is much faster than reading from, not only Standard HardDrives, but SSDs as well.

Keep in mind a lot of the tweaks to reduce writes for the SSD you'll see, were intended mostly for 1st Generation drives.
And secondly, the writes Pre-Fetch & Superfetch do, are quite insignificant.

If you have a Standard Hard Drive, certainly leave it ON.

If a SSD, your call. But, I would recommend leaving ON with them as well.

Prefetch and SSDs
My understanding from reading the MSDN blog was that prefetch and defrag were to be disabled for SSDs with "good performance." I have a second generation Intel X25-M 80GB as my boot drive which I believe qualifies as a "good performing" SSD. I do see that defrag is disabled for my SSD (C:...
