Mouse lag / freeze issue (Slowed performance)

    Hey guys,

It's been a while since I've posted, been missing the great community here!

Okay, usually I can solve most of my computer related problems due to everything I've learned here and at VF!

But... I can't seem to find out what's wrong this time... Help!

My cursor seems to keep jerking around, lagging, freezing, click buttons on it's own and scroll by itself...

I've re-installed Windows 7 thinking that would solve it... Didn't work.

It's a weird problem and my comp speed and performance has started suffering for some reason as well, like the cpu or memory is hurting somehow...

    Any ideas?

How old is your PC and the parts if you still remember? Is the mouse mechanical or optical? If its mechanical then try to clean the insides of it. Do you have any experience in dismantling computer parts and cleaning them? Try to clean the fans, heatsinks, RAM, graphics card, processor, PSU, motherboard, and harddrive with compressed air. If you want to remove some parts be sure to touch any metal that is connected to earth so it won't discharge any static electricity in the parts that you are trying to remove because it may short it and cause it to die.
Is the memory usage on your PC is high when its idle?

    Hi Rain08,

Thanks for the response. My PC is old.. Bought it in 2008.. My mouse is optical, and I have already cleaned my comp's guts. The memory usage does run extremely high when it idle's along with when my mouse will lock up.

It probably is time to invest in a new computer soon... lol
