Cannot Create Backups

I have tried various ways and even searched on GOOGLE to help me to get my "backups" set up on Windows 7.
But no matter what I do or where I go for procedural help I end up in C:\Windows\System32 folder with 2,640 items listed.
From there nothing happens.

Need some help Please.

Have you tried Control Panel - Backup and Restore - backup now ?

You can also set up a schedule there.

Hi kenC,

I have tried every conceivable way to create a backup, but I ALWAYs end up at the C:\Windows\System32 folder. At that point nothing happens.
I've tried through "Getting Started" from the Start Menu or Control Panel - Backup and Restore. No matter which way I go I end up in System32 folder.
Real strange. I've only had Windows 7 for 2 weeks and I've nowhere else to get help.

Hello Tegiro,

Sounds like something has gotten corrupted. Have you used anything like a registry cleaning program lately?

You might try doing a system restore using a restore point (if available) dated when you think this did work properly to see if it may be able to fix backup for you.

If not, then it looks like you may need to either do a repair install or clean install of Windows 7, or use a 3rd party backup program like the free Cobian Backup instead.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Hi Shawn,

I've just spent about 2 weeks transferring files etc from my old Windows XP computer and I have not done anything to alter the registry.
I'm not that well versed into computer repairs etc...so...I'm thinking that as it is only 2 weeks old this problem probably was created at the point of purchase and I'm wondering if it would be easier for me to take it back and ask them to resolve this problem.
To me this seem easier than attempting to try some of the suggestions you so nicely presented to me.
Would my idea be easier?
I wonder would you think?

Thanks,
Tegiro

Tegiro,

It's certainly worth a try and see if they may fix it for you.

If not, then the 3rd party program may be a viable option to use until you wanted to reinstall next.
