    Backing Up

My friend was showing off on his Mac the otherday and showed me something that I was impressed with, time machine. I was amazed how it constantly backed up the computer and how you was able to go back in time and are able to restore it to a certain time in the past. I was therefore wondering if there was a Windows alternative, as I have been looking online and have found nothing and was wondering if anyone out there knows if such a product exists and is it worth it?

There are such applications out there but historically they have consumed so much resources whilst they continually read/write to the HDD that they have been abandoned.

Take the old 'GoBack' program. Used it once for a short time and it came straight off.

I just rely on SyncToy now to backup my changed/new 'data' hourly.

You can change your System Restore options quite easily. Just program frequent Restore Points at regular intervals, and you essentially have (almost) the same thing.

The Acronis True Image software offers something called "non-stop backup", which is very similar I believe to what Apple does with Time Capsule. While I own True Image, I simply create images when I want them, versus letting the software run constantly and keep me backed up.

I just got my NAS today, and I got Acronis True Image OEM (on the disk it says Acronis True Image V1.0)......will it be any good, or fairly limited?
