    Booting off Windows Live Meesenger

How do I get that pesky Windows Live Messenger to get off my PC? It is the first thing that comes up when I boot...I don't IM, and would love this annoying program to just go away!
    Thanks in advance,

    Try this:
Click on the drop-down arrow next to the question mark image.
    Click "Show the menu bar"
Go to Tools -> Options -> Sign In -> uncheck "Automatically run ......."

There's a couple of ways of stopping it

    1st

open live messenger...go to the tools tab, click it, and go down to
"options", and when it opens select the "general tab", then "uncheck" where
it says " automatically run windows live messenger when i log onto windows.
    click apply, then ok.

    or

    completely uninstall it
goto "Control Panel" "programs and features" you should see a listing for "Windows Live Essentials"

click uninstall and follow the wizard prompts

Before you fully delete Messenger Exotic, remember that Messenger also notifies you when you receive emails --- that's a really nice feature to keep. So, you might want to take PooManUK's and Anak's suggestions of disabling it at Startup, but not deleting it. If you go into Tools, then Options you might be able to customize it so that it only performs the functions YOU want the way YOU want them to be performed.

Your welcome! Glad that I was able to help.

The way I posted allows a user a way to shut it off if the user does not have a way to log-in, and does not want to sign-up.

    PooMan's tips are also valid.

I am torn between the Pack, and Steelers.

I grew up with the Packers since the Lombardi days back in the early to mid 60's, and being from Pennsylvania I like the Steelers much more than the Eagles or the Ravens.

My avatar is a pix of the official Packers team jacket my DW bought me for Christmas 30years ago.
