Hi Guys
At last i am on Windows 7 RC.
I followed Orbital Shark instruction on how to boot windows into safe mode and it started with no problems.
Great Advice.
this was with the original insalation iso. i did download another but i have not needed it.
The only problem i have now is i have been to the Nvidia website and downloaded the driver for my video card but then Windows will not start and i have to boot back into safe mode.
So has anybody got any idea as to what video drivers i need to install please
You need not use the NVidia Drivers, Win7 will download the appropiate driver if you on the internet when you do the install. iF NOT THEN WHEN ON INTERNET FIND AND CLICK UPDATE.
Now the other Question is did you burn the DVD or are you installing from HDD partition. If your burning then make sure it is NO FASTER THAN 4X.
ON BURNING DVDS SPEED KILLS.
Other wise i guess it is up to Orbital Shark since he has you that far...
I'll not mess what he has done so far.
Hi guys at last i am up and running.
I burnt a dvd and booted from that and i burnt it a 1 time speed.
I have followed Orbital Sharke on how to boot into sfae mode and disable the video card drivers and then i can boot normally but then as soon as windows is running it installes the Nvidea drivers automaticly and then im back to square one, so how do i stop windows doing this i have downloaded the windows 7 driver from the nvideo website but that one does not work.
So any ideas on where i go next
Sorry, been in the pub for a while
I would install the latest 'Vista' GFX drivers but with compatability for Vista (right-click the exe & under compatability select Vista). Then, once installed, run Windows Update as this will show that there is an update for your GFX card. Right-click the driver & select 'Hide Update', this will stop Windows from trying to update your driver.
It's the best option as Windows 7 is still not fully supported by any hardware manufacturer.
Hope it helps :)
Are you able to get into Safe Mode with Networking support and use a wired connection to download the video driver updated from the nVidia website?
If not, download it on a flash drive (last I remember, it was about 125 mB) and carry it over to this system. Then install it in Safe Mode?
FYI - In XP this problem was nearly always caused by hard drive issues or video card issues. These are still major factors in Vista and Win7 - but there are other issues that can cause it.
Hi guys,
I have got this wondows 7 rc running but only if i first boot into safe mode then disable the GFX drivers then reboot and all is ok. I have downloaded the latest drivers fron Nvidia but when i install the driver file i get a black screen on bootup, If i ask windows 7 to update the video driver it find a different one but with the same results.
I have also tried Orbital Shark help by right-click the exe & under compatability select Vista, but i dont get that option only to run compatability for XP.
It looks like the windows 7 update advisor is wrong when it says my video card is ok for win 7.
I am now on the win 7 computer and i can access the internet and use it but with a poor display, So i now think i am stuck unless i just use the basic driver included with win 7 untill nvidia release a working driver for win 7.
regards to you all
