Windows 7: Sleep doesn't happen in my computer?

Sleep doesn't happen in my computer?

I tried hibernate and it works fine, but for some reason sleep doesn't. Computer enters sleep mode but can't wake up from it without a restart, and then it goes into the menu asking if I want to try resuming again or delete session and start windows in a new session (not word for word).

This is off of a brand new install, legal CD that came with the computer and everything. Tried optimizing the computer for sleep mode through some tutorials and still haven't been successfull. If anyone would be able to lead me through a diagnostic to find whats wrong, and possibly find a way to solve this problem, I would be in your debt.

You should not be having this problem with a brand new computer

Assuming that your computer is under warranty -

IMO -
I would suggest a duty of care applies even to volunteers assisting.

As I see it we volunteers should not be putting at risk the rights,YOU, the consumer has under that warranty...

Therefore I would strongly suggest that you should seek advice asap.

I wonder if it is a hardware issue, as I have had some issues in the past (same cd, different hardware) but sleep mode always had worked for me, it used to be hibernate (and hybrid sleep) that never worked. Now it is just the opposite, Hybrid and sleep don't work. The BIOS is set for proper sleep mode S3. Very strange. I don't think I much like homemade computers anymore lol.

On a very different side note, does anyone know a good computer manufacturer that is reliable, supplies quiet, cool, and fast computers? I especially like the custom made computers, but sometimes they may lack reliability, or so I'm lead to believe.

I honestly am not sure what you mean. I do not believe my computer is under warranty, and it works fine except for this. I got it from cyberpower pc.

What do you mean that a duty of care applies even to assisting volunteers, and that they shouldn't put the consumer at risk?

And where would I get advice, calling the manufacturer?

Clarification is needed.

Is your computer / OS new?
If so is it under warranty?

Relatively new, say 4 or 5 months, but no it isn't under warranty. And this didn't happen the first time I reinstalled, And I've reinstalled a couple times (the reason being is I try to learn more about computers by testing on it, so I can know what works and what doesn't). I've purposed this current install without 'tinkering', so I wouldn't have to reinstall. I couldn't say what the exact source of the problem is.

I put in 2 graphics cards sli and a better power supply that both differ from the original purchase. I can check wiring again but I was very careful in making sure everything was secure and in place. I removed the front power button light (light only, button still works) and front side USB connection to motherboard in order to fit sli graphics card in, but in my limited computer experience, I don't believe this should effect sleep mode.

I might look at some other posts and see if there is any help to be found there as an aditional source, but I'm still trying to figure this out. Your help is very appreciated

Any computer is under tech support and hardware warranty for the first year after purchase new.

Sleep issues are first and foremost about the Display driver. Check optional Windows update for any newer drivers, then the Support Downloads webpage for your computer model, the display device model. Try the most recent driver, the previous version, even the Vista driver if given.

Check your Performance log to see what might be hanging sleep: Computer lags every couple seconds

This should be fixed by updating the BIOS on your motherboard. Gigabyte has a pretty good reputation for maintaining their boards, so you should be able to go to their site to download the tools.
