Windows 7 Sluggishness issues

hey guys how are all of you?

I'm having issues with my PC. i will describe my issue and if someone can help that would be awesome... I currently run everything in admin mode. most of my games force me to. When my pc just turns on it is quick instant response time, but after running for half a day it becomes slowed.. When i click on a program to start you know how it goes to a lightey darkend screen and the yellow dialog box asking to run the program? Well this is how it works. i get a full black screen for about 15 seconds. then the yellow dialog box then the black screen again for 15 seconds. this is on any of my programs. then back to desktop then the program starts. and not even then does the program really start takes about 15 more seconds then black screen then the program starts running. BUT it still isnt.. the screen goes black, then goes to a lighter shade of black, then dark black, then lighter shade of black then the program starts time elaspes 45 seconds or so.. this is for any program.. and when this occurs the black screens i get this EEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRR sound from my speakers and if something else is running say teamspeak they all disappear for that time till the program starts.

Also another way to see this issue is when i alt tab out. Takes 2 seconds when the pc is just start or before hand. now it coudl take 45 seconds to get to desktop and 45 to get back in. while this could also cause programs to stop responding and screws with the icon placement on my desktop. Another way of it showing is when i press on the start button and it takes up to 15 seconds to appear. or when i try to pull back up a web browser same amount of time.

This all start occuring after i placed in a second graphics card. although i cant understand why that woudl be causing the issue.
restarting the machine is the ONLY way to get this to stop happening and it is truely fustrating i run a very high end computer.

Im running a
i7 860
2 ATi 5870's
8 gigs of ram
W7 64 bit.

any help is GREATLY appreciated and i mean it!

The first thing I personally would do is take out the second graphics card, and see if it does the same with your original. Have you checked your Task Manager to see which process is taking up the most CPU?

If it only happens when you put the second card in I suggest trying different drivers for the cards. What series are you running right now? Only other thing I can think of is possible junk PSU. What brand/model to you have?

Same thing happens to me. It seems to be a driver issue that has been going on since October 2010. I've been using September drivers to work around it for now. I have an 5970. What antivirus and firewall do you have?

To work around it (since you're already running as admin, you're already partially at some risk that you've chosen to take) you can disable the secure desktop and see if that gives you a workaround until the vendor releases a "good" driver - go to the control panel and change the UAC slider down one click, from one step down from the top to one step up from the bottom. This disables the secure desktop prompting.

I disabled defense+ from comodo firewall and that seems to have fixed it. I'm not running as admin, so the constant pauses before and after passwords prompt was very annoying.

Hardly a week passes here where uninstalling Comodo doesn't solve problems. Same for almost any 3rd party firewall.

There is no reason to pay to bloat your system when freeware like MS Security Essentials or Avast 5 with the Windows 7 Firewall gives best performance and complaint-free protection.

If problems reoccur, here are troubleshooting steps

Comodo is free. And I'd prefer better security than better performance.

Then it's overpriced. We have at least one Commode-Oh! case per week here messing up Win7.
