Extra slow startup, everything else seems fine.

    Hello,
I got this new laptop a few months ago (last November), and for the most part it's strong and fast. One day a few weeks ago, however, the computer started taking forever (10-15 minutes) to reboot. One of the websites I googled said that:

"Occasional slowness can be due to software errors. It may be noticed when running a particular task, but not at other times," but did not discuss how to fix this problem/even find what is causing the problem.

Note that this was a SUDDEN change; one day everything was fine, the next day every reboot took forever. This makes me think that their is some software issue, and not just a general buildup of startup programs causing this issue.

~5 minutes after windows is up and running the computer is running at its usual capacity, and everything works normally.

    Any/all help is appreciated.

Hi, welcome to the forums :)

You may want to try the following...

1, Download MalwareBytes and perform a Full system scan
2, Open up Command Prompt as administrator (Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools - Right-click)
3, Type scf /scannow to check for system file integrity errors.
       Note
Any file errors found will be fixed and replaced and a reboot will be required

I just finished trying both of those things (I assume you meant sfc /scannow), and neither malwarebytes nor the windows command prompt thing showed any errors. Any other ideas?
