use repair disc on different computer

My machine is Windows 7 64 bit.

If I create a 'system repair disc' from my machine, can I use this disc to fix
a different windows7 computer? i.e. does the repair disc depend on the serial no.?

Also, if it fix other win7 computer beside the one that was created it, can it fix win7 32 bit?

Hello Hamilton, and welcome to Seven Forums.

While you can create a system repair disc and be able to use it on any Windows 7 edition on any computer, it must be the same 32-bit or 64-bit system respair disc as the installed 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 7.

You will not be able to use a 32-bit system repair disc on a 64-bit Windows 7, or a 64-bit system repair disc on a 32-bit Windows 7.

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

Shawn is correct that you can't use the automated startup repair, or the windows system image GUI on a different bit version.

However, you can use the command prompt to effect boot repairs, partitioning, and restore a system image.

You need to know how - so for most people it is simpler to get the matching bit version repair disc.

It is another great MS mystsery.
