If you are still running the stock 1GB of memory on that system, it's going to run somewhat slow with Windows 7. That is the minimum memory requirement. And if you are at the minimum requirement, expect minimum performance.

Hi, welcome to the forums

The easiest way to determine whether or not your system can handle Windows 7 is to use the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor.

One sub question:
Is ahci faster than ide? I read somewhat contradictory claims, that in syntethic benchmarks you get faster results with ahci, however in real world application ide is still faster.
Is it true?
