I'm in the same boat. My home Q9550 runs at 3.2Ghz though. A friend just bought a Sandy Bridge i7 2600K and overclocked it to 4.2 this week. While that makes the inner nerd in me want to build a new computer, there is absolutely no reason to as my Q9550 runs fabulously and doesn't really drag in real-life usage...just in benchmarks against these newer chips. My box will be 2 years old in June. I expect that I'll replace it in another 12-18 months.
