    Hibernation fails after SP1 install

My machine used to hibernate with no problems at all until I installed Win7 SP1 a week or two ago. I had no hibernation failures in years as far as I can recall.

Now when I hibernate it, it switches itself off as before, but whe starting up again I get a screen saying that the machine did not shut down properly, and offering me the option of starting in safe mode.

I have changed no power settings and am lost as to the reason. Any troubleshooting tips, or known reason for this behaviour?

What happens if you disable hibernation (powercfg /hibernate off), reboot, and then re-enable it (thus recreating hiberfil.sys)?

    That looks very promising!

I have requested the hotfix and will try it when I get home tonight.
