Windows 7 Disk Management problem after using WET

I am an idiot who knows just enough to mess up my computer! Now I am turning to you all to save me from myself.
I used Windows Easy Transfer to move my files from my old Dell laptop running Windows XP to my new Inspiron 1764 running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. The problem I ran into is that my new files seemed to be on one partition and another one contained all the empty disk space of my new computer. I tinkered and managed to delete the operating system. I tinkered again and repaired it. But I still can't expand my C: partition and of course I am being told I have very low disk space. I only have the option to "shrink" and when I try that, it tells me I have 0 space to shrink. I'm afraid of making another really big mistake since in truth, I really don't know anything and reading about disk management and partitions has not enlightened me. I would be very grateful for any help so that I can get access to the free space. Two screenshots are attached. Thank you.

Your problem is that your unallocated space is inside a green box, which signifies an extended partition.

You can't expand C into an extended partition.

You need to delete that extended partition that contains the unallocated space.

You will be left with "regular" unallocated space and should then be able to expand C.

I'm not sure you can do it in Windows. You may need Partition Wizard or Partition Manager:

Use the bootable disc version if you try Partition Wizard.

Hello SMCR, welcome to Seven Forums!

Just right click the green Free Space and click delete in the drop down menu and that will then be unallocated space that the Windows partition can then be extended into using Windows disk management, have a look at this tutorial at the link below and be sure to post back with any further questions you may have and to keep us informed.

SOLVED!

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I had been worried about deleting anything again after my last fiasco of trying to fix this myself but following your directions solved the problem and I now have my whole hard drive to fill up! Very grateful!
