    Long boot up time


    I put Win7x86 on a LGA775 P35 Q9550 system (new SSD). Anyway it had a wireless PCI card that didn't have official Win7 drivers. Got some bad advice and installed a driver/software package for some laptop wireless card that was supposed to work with this obsolete wireless PCI card. Anyway long story short it didn't work and I believe I have removed all traces of the driver and software package including the card but at the windows screen prior to loging in it stalls for 3 minutes. I noticed that when the software was installed it was set to try to connect 3 times 1 minute each.

    Any ideas ? Or am I looking at doing another fresh install ?

    The best way to check this is to have a look at the error logs on your system.

    Just go ahead and follow the typical bsod posting instructions.
    Based on the information you are able to give like this I don't think anyone could really say for certain.

    Look over your performance log closely to see if it gives clues to what is hanging boot. Here is how to access that log and the other basic Win7 troubleshooting steps: Computer lags every couple seconds

    If all else fails as a last resort before clean reinstall (be sure to wipe the HD first) you can run a boot trace which is the tool the Pro's use to trace this: Trace Windows 7 boot/shutdown/hibernate/standby/resume issues - MSFN Forum

Hello Everyone :) ... well i went from windows 7 64 bit to windows 7 32 bit since then my boot time is extreamly long .. sometimes it just stops and i have to restart it . if done a fresh install again but i have the same problem ? Can anyone help me thanks

Recently been having problems with boot times, it seems to get stuck at the starting windows screen for several minutes before eventually going to desktop. overall boot time is about 3 - 5 mins. I rememer having a similar problem a while back which i think was fixed by disabling some start up...
