I am not able to use system restore, I get the msg " system protection is turned off..."

But under system properties, it shows the protection is on.

    whats going on?

    Thanks

    Hi there,

    • Click Start, type services.msc and hit enter.
    • From the list of services, double click on Windows Backup and Volume shadow copy services.
    • In the properties window, select Automatic as the startup type and click Start.
    • Apply the changes and test it

    • Click Start, right click on Computer, and click Properties.
    • Click System Protection under Tasks.
    • Under System Protection tab, make sure to place a check mark under all the available disks to enable the system restore or turn it on.

If that fails the run SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Glad you've solved it and thanks for keeping us posted. Could you post the exact location of the registry key so that others could benefit from your post also? Thanks
