I have deleted all the files in the C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\RAC\PublishedData folder and C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\RAC\StateData folder waited few hours but the same old chart reappers as if i have done nothing. wtf?

Is there a way to reset the Reliability Monitor once and for all in windows 7 to keep it tidy?

    Hello XPguru,

That method worked in Vista, but has appeared to no longer work or work properly in Windows 7.

Thanks Shawn, I've been looking for the tutorial, to no avail of course, perhaps I'll stop looking now.

    Data Collection

You can check your RAC task to see if it is operable. Read this link.

What I found at the following link.

Reliability graph is blank. - Microsoft Answers

You evidently need to do what I highlighted in red first.
I never tried it but what I found.
    Mike

Step 2: Reset the reliability monitor
Note: If you reset the Reliability Monitor, then any previously displayed data will no longer be available unless you have backed it up in step c below to restore.
NOTE: You must be logged in as an administrator to be able to do this.
    a. Open Event Viewer.
NOTE: Open the Start Menu, then type eventvwr.msc and press enter.

    b. If prompted by UAC, then click on Yes.
    c. In the left pane of Event Viewer, double click on Windows Logs to expand it, right click on Application, and click on Clear log.
    d. Click on Clear, then close Event Viewer.
    e. Clear Your Windows 7 Problem Report History.
NOTE: You will need to do step j at this link above to delete all problems.
    f. If Reliability Monitor is open, then close it.
    g. Open Folder Options and select (dot) the Show hidden files and folders option and click on OK.
    h. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\RAC.
    i. To Backup this Reliability History Data -
WARNING: While this is an optional step, you will not be able to restore this data if you do not backup this data and it will be gone for good. If you want to skip this, then continue to step j instead.
    1. Copy both the PublishedData and StateData folders and paste them to another location as a backup.
    2. NOTE: The contents of these folders will be your backup.
To Restore this Reliabilty History Data: Copy only the contents of both the PublishedData and StateData folders from the location you saved the backups to in step i 1 and paste them back into their corresponding folders at the location below.
NOTE: You will need to approve the copy if prompted by UAC or to "Copy and Replace".
    C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\RAC.
    j. Open the PublishedData folder.
    k. Select all the files in the folder and click on Delete.
    l. Open the StateData folder.
    m. Select all the files in the folder and click on Delete.
    n. If prompted by UAC, then you will need to click on Yes for each UAC prompt for each file in the StateData folder to approve deleting each file one by one.
    o. Close Windows Explorer.
    p. Empty the Recycle Bin, and click on Yes to approve if prompted.
    q. Open Folder Options and select (dot) the Don't show hidden files and folders option and click on OK.
    r. Open Reliability Monitor to see it now reset clean.
NOTE: If Reliability Monitor is already open, then close and reopen it.

    Hello Mike,

Yeah, that was in the tutorial that was here as well. I kept getting reports that even with doing that, Reliablity Monitor would reset, but sometime later the old chart data would still return.

That's fine Mike. I had removed the tutorial a while back since it wasn't working for most folks. It may for a few though, but I doubt it. It's not going to hurt anything to try though.
