This illustrates quite well WHY Robert wants the SSDs. It takes a lot of horsepower to speed up the storage sub-systems to actually maximize the effective speed of any platform. After all, the only thing slower in the system is the keyboard.

I thought about it for a bit. Robert, you appear to have money to burn. Buy the SSDs. Buying knowledge is like going to college.

Amdahl! Now there's a name I haven't heard in a while - they used to rule big iron ...

I still miss my Amiga ... I need to move on ...

After reading a lot I will do what you all suggested. So I give up using SSDs. May be later I'll try it. Now I have to think in RAID0 and look for some VelociRaptors!
Thanx for the advices!

Bit of a ****disturber back then weren't you..
And yes, they really haven't changed in it's basic functions, as you say "just a wee bit faster" now, and may I add "a wee bit Smaller too!"

Active duty Marine, E5 at the time, SASSY Admin. After about the fourth time, the zeroes threatened us with charges of treason if we did it again. It took 'em that long to figure out what was happening.

Back then, we were thrilled with our new IBM 5150's. Green machines we called 'em. Yes, I have used ARPAnet. But we called it SAMSTEL.

E7 retired to answer your next question. There is a poser in this forum who has not earned the privilege and title.

You can always tell a Marine. You just can't tell him much.
