MobileMe Sync Consuming Heavy CPU (applesyncnotifier.exe)

    Hi

I've seen this posted in several forums, including here, but no real resolve.

After I restart either of my Dell laptops which both run MobileMe (Apples' email/calendar sync tool used with iphones/pads) I notice a huge slowdown in performance and applesyncnotifier.exe is usually consuming 50% of my dual core processor (I assume this is the max it can grab).

I've seen all kinds of posts on how to remedy (kill the applesync process, place an eventlog trigger to kill process etc etc) but nothing that's actually resolved the problem. Oddly killing the process seems to have no effect on the software, which seems to run/sync ok regardless.

Apple stated a few times to change the sync period from 'automatic' to daily or some other timeframe, but this doesnt seem to solve things, just mitigate a little.

It's a real pain having to kill this PID - of course it may well be ropey software, but I've upgraded MobileMe a couple of times and no change. Also I'd expect the problem to occur a lot more often out there than it seems to.

    Any troubleshooting tips are welcome!

    Thanks, Andy

    Hi there,

Seems like the issue is happening for lot of users. Try to disable your security software and see if you have any effect on it. Sometime they scan the software at the time of sync which might cause high CPU usage. Reboot the System in Selective Startup Run Selective Startup using System Configuration and see if. If that didn't work see if you can find any alternative software that does it's job.
