Hi broeckie27,

It may well be that the applications you installed didn't create Start Menu Items (alot don't nowadays from what I've seen)

Could you be a bit more specific about which apps they are? chances are someone uses them and can tell you whether they have Start Menu entries.

Also: You can add them yourself, by going to C:\Users\<Your Username>\Start Menu\Programs and putting shortcuts in there :)

Hope it helps,
Martin

I have the same problem... when installing a program it will create an icon on the desktop. in the All Programs menu it creates a "folder?" and when I choose this it displays (empty)

This happens on both of my Win 7 machines - 1 is Win 7 x32 and the other is a Win 7 x64...

the concern is many programs normally install more than the run shortcut for the program - there may be an un-install or maintenance option missing...

If should work, if you have "Highlight newly installed programs" checked.

Applications no longer show in the Start Menu
edit: well, that was a quick fix. After I looked in the Start Menu properties to see if there were any settings there I could change, applications now show up fine. Yesterday I was upgrading a friend's laptop from Vista to 7. Before installing 7, I wanted to take a backup of their user folder....

Windows 7 Start Menu can't find Applications....?
Windows 7 Pro system, Start Menu's Search Bar has always been able to find my executables as you type them. For example, type "pho" and as you're typing it, "Photoshop" would appear for you to click. Type "fi" and "Firefox" would appear ready to click and run. Sometime recently, partial names...
