    Sleep Option For Dual Screens

i have 2 23 inch acer screen. one hdmi and one vga..
i have the "turn off display" set for 15 mins but it seems the hdmi (which is the main display) only turns off as the second screen stays on.
i know i can just turn off the second display with WinKey and P but sometimes i have to rush out and have work up on both screens
am i missing a setting somewhere?

Odd. My inputs are reversed, (primary on DVI) but both screens go to sleep.

Do you leave any apps on screen and not minimized?

yeah i have my 360 hooked up HDMI on my screen with the VGA so that is why it is the secondary

    maybe that is it.
    some programs don't allow sleep..
if will shut all programs down and set it to 5 min sleep and see if that is the problem

    your are a genius
i never even thought of that, they both turn off.
    now another question
what is the best way to have an extended taskbar on the spare screen so you can minimize windows to the screen taskbar instead of going to the main screen taskbar.
not sure if that makes sense

    MultiMonitor TaskBar

    You might also like to try this;

    No worries :)

For the second question, you need to use a 3rd party app like Display Fusion or Ultramon which allows you to have a 'second' taskbar which you can configure to do what you are after.

Both have 'free' and 'paid for' versions. Try them both to see which suits your needs more. I think both the 'free' versions still allow a customizable second taskbar.

Unfortunately Windows doesn't have an 'extended' taskbar feature, hence the need for a 3rd party app.

i hate to be a bother
but i the ones you guys shared are trials.
and have very annoying pop ups and what not
    or deactivated features
like Displayfusion doesn't offer the task bar feature on free account
    are there anymore out there?

Sorry, I thought the features you needed were in the free versions.

I'm afraid I don't know of any freeware versions
