I turned off the pagefile on my netbook, and anytime I reboot it (not often since I hibernate it) I get a message from windows crying about not having a pagefile and that the universe might implode if I don't set one.
The only thing I could think of is either he has a "turbo memory" type graphics card that uses the pagefile for something at boot OR for some reason it is logging some type of crash dump at boot and needs it...
EDIT:AND of course he may have lower than the recommended amount of RAM for 7 and it needs to page itself
2 giggers on the netbook with onboard graphics. 945 chipset.
That is a shared memory graphics card (I believe that I am right about that....) so it may need the pagefile for using the onboard memory....if anything just set your pagefile between 512MB to 1GB....you will be fine
Yea, it does use shared onboard, just recalled from the other forum.
Thanks.
What about moving the pagefile.sys to another partition? Will that help or increase performance?
