Well, I would have thought that starting with a sandy bridge i7 is rather an expensive starter, but I suppose you do own a money pit
Actually it started with "MoneyPitSenior" an HP computer wanting Windows and upgrade for half the cost of original price tag and got it after joining this forum.

    It's not.

    It doesn't have legs :)
It just levitates like the avatar and sometimes goes Boo.

    2. Great!!

Has been great since being built, the first small SSD made a huge improvement, the new 120GB SSD is much better yet.

Now, if I could just quit tweaking it...

Considering I spent less than $700 on it, it runs great. Does everything I want, I don't play a ton of graphics heavy games, runs Halo 1 at 50 fps with all the effects on max and resolution as high as I can get it. Runs Portal very smoothly. We'll see what kind of performance I can get out of Portal 2 when that comes out in the fall.

erm, Portal 2 is out on the 19th for you (America)

Hopefully your machine will be able to play it well. The minimum specs obviously aren't as demanding as Crysis 2, but they are too high for any of my computers (mainly GPU)

All the Rigs I have built have preformed great but none as well as my current build. The X58 platform is awesome!

Wow, don't know why I was thinking it was way later this year. We shall see if my lil' Intel HD graphics can handle it.

I completed this build about a month ago and have no complaints at all. Although the
mb is a bit funky the machine runs cool and quiet. (Actually its exceptionally quiet considering
there are 6 fans running.) This is my first experience with a64-bit OS and my first ever Raid0.
Like a poster before me ... still tweaking. (I choose to disregard all the 'Leave Windows alone!'
    advice, but that's just moi.)

The one and only thing that constantly bugs me is the front USB connectors on the HAF-X which
    are up-freakin'-side down.

Although I'm not an overclocker per se -- I would like to find a lazy man's quide to crank this rig up a bit.
I'm just not interested in spending weeks obsessing about every little mhz. LOL
