Hi Karl:
Just wondering why you're recommending against Avast.
Most of what I've seen here recommends Avast and MSE co-equally, but not together.

Three reasons: 1 variable elimination, interference elimination-what's not there can not interfere, performance-the best is MSE and adding still a 2nd will do nothing but cost you in performance. You do not gain any security.
Iif after all is said and done and the poster's system is functioning well, then one can remove MSE and reinstall AVAST if desired but all evaluations of security software would indicate this as not the best solution.
Still the best protection is avoidance of sites and never, never, never clicking on shortcut icons and never, never, never opening unsolicited emails. If something is to good to be true, then it is too good to be true.
