    All downhill.

    Hi,

Well, can't say I'm enjoying Windows 7 too much, granted it's got some cool features and whatnot but, I've been having nothing but issues.

Firstly, Windows Explorer crashes often, very often. ntdll.dll is always the culprit. Restarting fixes it for a while.

During various games, at random times, all textures will become blank, and the game will become very laggy. Only a restart fixes this issue.

Programs, particularly games, when tabbed out of, take ages to reopen. Where as when in XP it'll take maybe a second.

Windows Media Player, a lot of video formats don't playback any sound at all. Have played with so many codecs and sound drivers etc.

XP these are non issues, just wondering if maybe I have a bad install of Windows 7, a friend of mine is running the same RC version with none of these issues.

    Windows 7 64-bit RC version 7100

You can view my system specs in my profile if needed.

    Thanks.

Either you're near an event horizon, or you have some unusually incompatible device configuration / driver wreaking havoc - definitely not the norm. I would check for MB chipset drivers.

We do have a couple of things in common - Tagan power supply and lots of fans .

PS - are you overclocking? How much if so?

Well it's funny you mention MB chipset drivers, there are none from DFI that support this OS. I tried all the ones they had available for x64, all return the same error.

I love my Tagan and fans.

I was some time ago when I was using a 780i MB. Since I switched to the DFI, haven't really felt like overclocking lol.

Have you tried the Intel chipset update?

Intel® Chipset Software Installation Utility INF Update Utility

Try running this - it only installs whatever it recognizes. See if it helps.

Seems I have a newer version installed than the one on this software.

I have 9.1.0.1007 where as the software is trying to install 9.0.0.1008.

So looks like you don't have a MB chipset driver deficiency ...

This is really bizarre. Only thing I can come up with is try installing something like build 7232 which is very solid, x86 or x64. There have been many small compatibility fixes since 7100. Sorry I'm not being much help ...

    No worries.

How does one go about obtaining another build?

    Sure.

Not sure if I can wait for RTM, this explorer error is driving me mad.
