Windows 7: Networking change- now Hibernate doesn't work properly

Networking change- now Hibernate doesn't work properly

Last week I changed ONE little thing on our wifi router. I changed the WPA2 Personal encryption from "TKIP+AES" to "AES" only. I then changed the encryption for my Asus UL80Vt notebook to AES.

Since then Hibernate does not work properly. After it resumes the wireless adapter is disabled. I have to run Windows Network Diagnostics, sometimes it says wireless capability is turned off, sometimes "WLAN Auto Config was disabled" etc. Running the troubleshooter enables the wifi, every time.

Sometimes the resume would take 10-12 minutes. It has stopped doing that now, it resumes in the normal 30-40 seconds, but the wifi is still dead when it completes.

I have tried- running checkdisk, SFC, disabling then re-enabling Hibernate, defragging the hard drive. I removed the wifi adapter from Device Manager, then reinstalled it. I updated the drivers (it is an Atheros AR9285, current driver version I removed the Asus power option interface, and the problems still occurred running plain-Jane Windows power options.

Ironically the problem only occurs when I use the sleep button to hibernate (I had set it up as: Close Lid- do nothing, Sleep Button- Hibernate, Power Button- Shut Down). I tried setting Close Lid to Hibernate and the system hibernates and resumes PERFECTLY. Problem is that is not a solution, I want to close the lid and have the computer keep running. It prevents my cats from sending emails.

System is running Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) and everything else is working perfectly.

I do not have a System Restore point to use. Let's just say it was turned off. Don't know why.

I have changed the network security to "TKIP+AES" again, and set my laptop to "TKIP".

If you can help to narrow down the possibilities I would appreciate it.

Windows 8.1 ; Windows 7 x86 (Dec2008-Jan2013)

Have you tried this:
Control Panel- System - Device Manager - Network Adapters - Your WIRELESS card/adapter - Properties - Power Management tab ?

Try to uncheck all the settings (see the attached picture), and report here if anything changes

Just tried altering the network adapter power saving mode. I disabled the power saving mode and it seems to work. At least the screen stays off. I goofed, tried it a second time and it didn't work. Don't have a clue whats happening.

I was a bit hasty with that. Just tried it a second time and it didn't work. Sorry.
